Since I am going to be attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising this summer to gain my masters in Merchandise Marketing, I thought I would share my entrance project outfits with you guys! These were the outfits that got me into the school and I love all of them!

After asking on Facebook, I was told women want to know how to wear a new trend, patterned pants. Although wearing patterns on a top or with an accessory is something most who love fashion know how to pull off, pants are a different story. There is much more pattern to deal with, and the pattern typically makes your body look a little different. I have created two different outfits in order to help you all learn how to properly wear patterned pants!
Pants Blouse Clutch Wedge Watch
I think that making the pattern the main focus on your outfit helps a person feel like the pattern is helping them, not hurting them. Mixing patterns can tend to make people feel like a clown, which does not help them at all! Using neutrals to frame the patterned pants, especially one as bright and bold as this pair, will make you look like you can keep up with this hot new trend!
Shorts Top Necklace Wedges
When a pattern in small and simple, it can be used as a neutral, because, from far away, it tends to look solid. Mixing patterned pants with neon (also very hot the season) is a great way to show you are stylish!
Hello everyone! My name is Katharine, and yes I do spell my name different. This blog is all about my quest in order to live up to my famous name. I was named after the amazing style icon and strong women of her time, the great Katharine Hepburn. Katharine Hepburn (known here after as KH and I’ll be KB) was known for her masculine style of crisp white shirts and high waist dress pants.
This amazing women was able to pioneer a new form of style for strong, independent women for more then 60 years in film, theater and television. One of her most famous roles, Guess Whose Coming to Dinner, helped show viewers that inter-race couples are not a bad thing, while in her personal life she showed that she didn’t give a crap what other thought of her! She was going to be her own person.
After doing years and years of research on this incredible women, I decided to pay tribute to her with adding to my collection of tattoos. Although my mother was not thrilled that I had yet another tattoo on my body (and this one was my biggest yet) I knew that this is something that KH would have done herself.
“If you obey all the rule, you miss all the fun!”
This is the motto that KH lived by and truly stuck to it. She was never married and never had any children (hmmm mom doesn’t that sound familiar!!!) and loved her life. Although she had several flings with married men (this one is not on my bucket list) she decided that having fun and being happy was the most important thing.
Well that is enough of a back story for me, if you want to learn more about KH google it, it is the 21st century!
I am so excited to start this journey and take all of you along for the ride!
